EMN2 Programming Guide - Toys & Games

Toys & Games File List - Toys & Games Interstitials/Ads File List
Shows | Other Content
Grand Illusions
Year: 2008
Synopsis: A cheerful toy collector named Tim shows off the jewels of his collection.
EMN Notes: I'm amazed and pleased that Tim is going strong even to this day. His videos are addicting, simple little joys of a calm old man showing off all the wondrous puzzles and bits and bobs he's collected through his life. I'm all about the celebration of the mundane, and it seems he is too, and so are all the people watching him. He's just a real charmer, extremely simple in presentation, and knows toy history like the back of his hand. You never know what he's going to show off next.
Television Show Intros
Year: Various
Synopsis: Assorted intros from TV shows new and old.
EMN Notes: When this channel was first conceptualized, Mandy had the idea to load it up with shorts. Small videos, TV show intros, ad compilations, and more, all to basically have a channel that was nothing but quick talking points and things to watch with guests and chatter about while it played. That original concept was great, but it never quite extended far enough in the ways we wanted it to. That said, we kept it alive in the interstitials, because it's still such a fun idea, and it's especially funny when an intro to a show we have on the channel plays only for said show to play directly afterwards. It's fun!
The Domino King
Year: 2011
Synopsis: The most elaborate domino sequences you'll ever see, often celebrating games and movies.
EMN Notes: This is honestly one of the coolest things ever to me. It's so chill and soothing and satisfying to see all these crazy pieces of domino art, elaborate mosaics made with only dominos forming into game logos and sprites. And of course, it's fun to watch them all fall down. The Domino King has a simple style and it allows for him to tell something of a story through his domino art, a progression as the dominos fall from beginning to end.
Toy Reviews & Documentaries
Year: Various
Synopsis: YouTubers and toy historians alike come together to deliver a hard look at board games and toys.
EMN Notes: This is a broad yet fun variety of programming. I'm especially fond of Justin McElroy's history of Clue/Cluedo, but I really like to see board games being played or toys being examined. I'm actually really bad at learning board game rules, so having visual cues and a video of it being played helps me wrap my head around it, and most board game reviewers are extremely low key and relaxed about what they do, so it's nice!
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series
Year: 2007
Synopsis: LittleKuriboh's comedic re-dub of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters, Capsule Monsters, and "Season 0".
EMN Notes: One of the seminal works in the genre and honestly to this day still one of the consistently funniest. Sure, there are pieces that haven't aged the best, but then there are jokes that are somehow totally of-their-time and only could've been made in the mid-00s and that somehow makes them utter gutbusters. When you combine it with the jokes that HAVE aged perfectly well and a deep understanding of the property and a clear love for it by the show creator you have something that cracks me up constantly and helps me remember why I love Yu-Gi-Oh at all.
